HyperGate Transport enables a common, end-to-end, data-connectivity conduit that abstracts the variations in underlying transport and addressing schemes. Once deployed, HyperGate Transport intelligently uses all available message formats (unicast, multicast, and broadcast) and data paths to efficiently transmit data between centrally located servers and applications running on distributed set-tops — even if the set-tops are from different manufacturers, are different models, are running different middleware, or running different applications.

HyperGate increases the technical and economic feasibility of deploying targeted, measured set-top applications by supporting centralized rather than headend-by-headend, installation of application servers. Navic’s patented networking software enables applications to transmit data in a highly scalable and efficient manner and provides advanced network services enabling the delivery of multiple applications.

HyperGate eliminates the complexity of deployment across multiple platforms by providing a standardized data connectivity infrastructure by providing intelligent data transfer management services that maximize the limited data connectivity in existing platforms. The services include the arbitration of available in-band and out-of-band resources and bandwidth contention, bulk data delivery, time-sensitive data delivery, traffic regulation and managed quality of messaging. HyperGate Transport is used to support Navic’s suite of interactive applications, as well as approved 3rd party applications. It is the core technology behind Navic’s audience measurement, data delivery, messaging, non-linear navigation and transaction processing capabilities.
